Approach

Hello, my name is Ben from BK Wedding Photography.

If you've made it to this section of my website, hopefully it's because you like what you've seen so far!

As a photographer, I like to let my images speak for themselves but this written section is to give you an idea of my approach to photographing a wedding...

Although each wedding is unique, I always try to maintain a similar style by keeping things natural and simple, and by working incredibly hard to react to and capture all of the individual elements that will make your day so special.

Authenticity is also key, especially during an event so full of emotion. My role is to record you, your celebrations, the people you've chosen to share your special day with and all of the details that you've spent years planning in the most genuine and creative way I can. Enhancing the experience for you but not interfering with it by remaining friendly and flexible but also professional.

My aim throughout the day is that you and your guests are almost unaware of my presence as I snap away, capturing everything as it unfolds. The only exception will be when I take you and your brand new spouse away from the champagne and canapes for a brief (approx 20-30mins) portrait session amongst the stunning scenery of your venue.

If this idea gives you the fear, please don't panic as this is where I earn my crust! A previous lifetime working as an editorial and advertising portrait photographer has given me a wealth of experience and a few techniques for getting people to relax in front of the lens. I won't be making you pose like shop-front mannequins, the vibe will still remain fun and informal but most importantly, you will look like you, just with bigger smiles and smarter outfits!

After capturing some timeless images of you, the happy couple, it often makes sense to go straight into the group shots, culminating in 1 large group of all of your family and friends. Having them all in the same place also works really well as a transition from the drinks and vol-au-vents into the evening meal... You'll be amazed out how quickly they can smile on command and follow instruction from the bloke standing between them and the wedding breakfast!

For the 1st time during your big day you'll finally get to sit down, so at this point i'll just subtly float around the edges of your reception trying to record the atmosphere of the event and everyone interacting at their tables/ straw bales/queueing for the hog roast. It's then on to the speeches, cutting of the cake and the 1st dance. If the weather plays ball, hopefully we can squeeze in a quick sunset shoot before moving on to the serious business of capturing some 'blackmail worthy' images of Uncle Frank's dodgy dance moves!

If you're looking for a photographer who 'has your back' and who will endeavour to record every facet of your day in an honest, hassle-free but imaginative and inspiring way then please drop me a line via the form on the 'Pricing & Contact' page. I look forward to hearing from you and about your plans for your big day.
